Can't make it up my driveway

Hi Dave, Cheers mate, good info too. That gives me flexibility to add an electric fuel pump. I think the best tachometer is a good pair of ears anyway. Nice to hear that there are square bodies down under

Thanks Matt, That plug looked a little dodgy too. If I replace the ignition module capacitor, will that get me a new connector?

Can't make it up my driveway

Thanks Dave, Yes it is the 12v source to the distributor cap. There are 2 pins, 1 for ignition, the other i have read is for a tachometer (which i dont have). Thanks for the link, looks like what I need.

Can't make it up my driveway

Thanks Mike, That's good info. I am worried about the 12volt ignition wire. The connector is on it's last legs. It measures 12.1 with the ingition on, but motor not running, so i think the power supply is good, i have looked for a replacement connector but thus far have been unable tofind one.

Can't make it up my driveway

Wow, that was it. Dad gum. She's running!! When i put the new wires in, i followed the wires as i found them. So.... it was wired wrong for 10 years. 6 and 5 were reversed. When i replaced the module, i numbered the wires so that i would put them back in the same order, it is possible i guess...

Can't make it up my driveway

Ok guys, the mystery deepens. I replaced the fuel filter, started her up, made it out of the driveway and up the street. Ran rough, but no stalling under load. Got back and noticed that spark plug #3 was not connected. Bonehead move i know. I had pulled the wire to check the plug (plug was fine...

Can't make it up my driveway

Thanks again guys, Quick follow up, is the fuel filter connected to the carb aka quadrajet? Or attached to the frame close to the gas tanks? My K10 has 2 gas tanks. Ive not found much info on youtube on changing the fuel filter.

Can't make it up my driveway

Thanks for the suggestions. Fuel filter... i will check that next. It may be coincidence, but it has never been changed since I've owed her. As to the timing chain, I will also check that. And search for the instructions to do so. But like I mentioned it idles fine, even revs high when I open...

Can't make it up my driveway

I got the module from NAPA, $40, so I wouldn't call it cheap. I checked the coil and it met specs. Firing order is correct. The module is a 4 pin, and it plugged into another component inside the cap. I think its an ignition capacitor?? It idles just fine. Revs up when I step on the gas, just...

Can't make it up my driveway

Hi you'll, I have a 305 stock engine 131k original milea in my '85 K10. I've had it for 10 years, never had a problem. 3 weeks ago the engine stalled while I was running about. Kinda like running out of gas. I let the engine cool, and limped home. No spark.. I Replaced the ignition module...

    Rotor Help

Hi James, I read your post. I am looking to replace the rotors and brakes on my 85 K10, and was wondering the same thing. Should I buy the one piece hub rotor combo, or try and re-use my old hub? What advice do you have? What did you end up replacing? Did you replace the bearings? Or did you...
