So I swapped my 1983 Chevrolet K5 blazer with a 5.3/4L60e, working on it every other weekend it took longer than I wanted but I finally got around to the first start, and it runs poorly. I noticed the intake manifold had a broken nipple for a vacuum port so I swapped it with a spare I had. No...
@SquareRoot the hydraulic pedal in my 87? I’ve actually been driving it the last couple days since I broke some studs on my 78 when trying to replace the 2012 tires lol. But the pedal grabs at the very top, master and line were replaced and slave has been replaced twice, all within the last...
It’s getting closer to swap time, I believe I’m going to try and get the advanced adapters driver side slave bell housing if I can ever figure which part number it is. I’ve found one for swapping nv4500 to older 350’s? Is that the correct one? Part 712577? I’m starting to collect the final parts...
@Wallace6 i don’t rememeber what the issue was but I have since sold the 81 flatbed, still having hydraulic clutch issues on the 87, and LS swapped the 78 K10. Found a set of 3.73 axles for the k10 just gotta figure out the parking brake cable setup and add a small lift for ~33” tires.
Well I did it, bought an 85 k10 with hydraulic clutch and 3.73 axles, so now I’ve got to strip what’s left of that truck for mine. Going to finish my k5 blazer before starting this project.
I’ll have to sit down and figure where each wire goes, I’m not as much concerned about blinker lights, 4x4 light, ses etc. I need gauges, surely I can tell if I’m in 4x4 or not, and I’ll have a separate light for a check engine light.
@bucket the speedos are both cable driven other than the little box for cruise? Little greenish blue box. I did debate on Frankensteining the two clusters to maintain a 80psi oil pressure gauge, but there wasn’t much point.
Well I’m gonna make something happen regardless. So far all I’ve done was plug the gauges in and the lights worked and the voltage gauge. Speedo should work, all the other gauges pegged out for being open? If my wiring in the engine bay is correct I should be able to throw some sensors in and...
Rather not, but if I’ve got to I can take the entire bulkhead from the suburban and put it in the blazer. Regardless I can’t use the blazer gauges and I’d prefer factory gauges over some universal gauges.
The circuit board on the back of my gauges were rusted out and junk. I’ve got a set of 88 suburban gauges I put in the blazer and voltage seemed to work, can I use the temp sensor from the 88 and the oil pressure from an 83? The blazer currently has a 5.3L ls. Originally a 6.2, had a 350 when I...
Also, for future reference if anyone’s curious
The red and yellow pair is;
Yellow- Water In Fuel, Red- Fuel Gauge
Smaller four wires
Dark Green- Temp, Tan- Oil pressure, PinkBlackStripe- Glow plug relay? Brown- generator or thermo heater?
No idea for the blue and red pair.

I’ve figured out all the wires but the blue and red ones. I even went and looked at my other k5 blazer and it has them but it doesn’t go to anything.
@SquareRoot vacuum. I’ve been trying to find some local for up to 300. Can’t find any within six hours. If all else fails I’ll get in touch about yours. Or find a complete truck for <$1000
@Drauka99 not sure yet, it’s farther back than the sm465 but I’ve got a cleaner tunnel from an automatic...
