Rear end gear ratio change or transmission change ?

Your information is limited. At what speed and gear is the tach reading 5,000 RPM? You do know its not safe running the stock engine that fast, right? The 700R4 has a lower 1st gear plus an overdrive or 4th gear vs the TH350. However, that doesn't appear to be a problem solver for the issue you...

    Deleting emissions,read this article.

Yes and what is really lame is not all counties in CA require the every 2 year smog inspection/test. They really need to do away with them, few states really do them because they think logic, the cost and amount of vehicles that pass is huge. Only a few will not and as said above, don't add much...

    Deleting emissions,read this article.

You don't go to the "part suppliers" in many cases. For exhaust needs, there are muffler shops, usually the independent shops are best and they will install universal cats if the OEM is not available. Sensors etc. are usually available on line such as rockauto.com or the real auto parts stores...

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

On most GM's, that era, vacuum advance works from "manifold vacuum" so the vacuum line to the distributor must connect to the "T" fitting on the manifold just ahead of the carb. Total advance should be checked with the vacuum hose OFF and temporarily plugged. Vacuum advance is for drivability...

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

That quadrajet also needs to confirm the float position with the carb kit measuring tool. A low float can make it lean as well. The idle mixture screws have nothing to do with above idle mixtures which means the metering rods need to be checked for proper flow. Also, the secondaries have an...

    79 k10 th350 major leak help

YouTube has a top notch trans shop called Precision Transmission in Amarillo, TX. Richard & Theresa run the shop and after a few videos of the various rebuilds, you will see what I'm referring to. He now works from his home shop. First class shop plus he has tons of core parts in stock. Well...

    TH-400 Engagement Delay?

If fluid is not keeping its level, its got to be going someplace right? Maybe when the pan was replaced the converter was already drained and low on fluid itself when the trans was refilled however, after driving it a ways, the dip stick level should indicate that and more fluid would be needed...

700R4 TV cable - weird adjuster?

That is for sure adjustable. Looks like a new throttle cable is due...that is dangerous. TV must be adjusted just right or shifts will not be correct. Use a trans shop, usually the independent shops are best vs. AAMCO etc.

700R4 TV cable - weird adjuster?

I would take it to a good transmission rebuild shop. They usually have decent resources for older parts and usually have LKQ OEM parts in stock. Or, they can adjust it for you the way it should be with no slack in it. My local transmission shop did this for me at it took them 3 minutes to get...

    Hayden Fan clutches

Delco/GM would be the best route if you value your labor. Unlikely todays GM Part is USA made but at least its made to spec if its from China like most of GM parts.

    Fan Clutch

There are many part numbers for fan clutches especially for trucks so if you are looking to get the right combination as it was OEM, some research might benefit you. Just about every GM that had factory A/C came with a fan clutch set up. The fan blade itself is specific to a fan clutch in that...

On another subject...where do we find the front bumper impact strips that are on your GMC? I have searched and find none available.

Grille Molding Clips (ONLY) 87 K5 Silverado

I'm trying to find the "SLE" emblem that mounts to the front of the quarter panel just behind the rear side doors on an 89 GMC Suburban. Can't find any "Fuel Injection" emblems for the rear tailgate right side. Anyone have any experience with the front grill and left/right headlamp doors...

AC Delco electric pumps available anymore?

Seems to be true. Years back I used an airtex which didn't last 1 year. Had a Delco installed which lasted maybe 3 years. Used a Delphi, it quit about the same 3 years and now back using a Delco. When I was spending my time and extra money going to the dealer for "Delco" parts it was worth it...
