I've been keeping a list of things I've done to the truck, and how much they've cost, since I bought it for $2500 in the middle of September. I've done 83 different repairs costing a total of $4962. Currently I've got 10 things left on the "to do" list, most of which won't get done until Spring... -

This is different than any timing plate I've had on my various vehicles over the years. They all had numbers on both sides, with 0* in the center. This one has 0*-12* going one direction, just like in 89's picture above. I have to assume that 8* is BTDC, which is what my timing is supposed to be... -

It's a round cylinder mounted to the end of the timing plate. -

Found it. It sits at 12 o'clock, under and behind the water pump. This is not going to be easy to check timing. My only question is what is the round thing,that looks like it holds a pencil, for? -

Finished installing the new wheel well trim. Loooks a lot better. I was going to check the timing but I couldn't locate the timing marks on this 350. Any one have a picture of the location? -

Installed a new alternator. Volts dropped from 18.3 to 14.4. Also started installing new wheel well trim. -
Battery question: distilled water or premix electrolyte when adding ?
Keep in mind that as a battery charges the plates warm up. As they warm up the water will expand. I would leave it alone. Check it occasionally and if it gets below the splits then add DW.- CRM

How To Refurbish Your Dashpad
In the past I removed everything down to metal. Glued down high density foam. Before I glued down the new vinyl, life got in the way. It sat and got dents in the foam. LOL -

Decided today to address the 18v display on the voltmeter. Pulled the plug off the alternator and it was pretty gross. Took a can of brake cleaner to clean it all the way. Cleaned the connections on the alt too. No change! Looks like a new alternator is due to come into this SB's life. While I... -
