Can the heater core be turned off?
If your blending vent control is working, you shouldn't be getting any heat off the core in the cab. In the older chevys it's a cable to control the blending duct. Thanks for this, bought a "78" but chassis, fenders, hood are from an 82. Knew the grill and lights were wrong but didn't know the extent of what had been modified. Yeah, pretty sure. I noticed when I bought it that the gaps where off. Factory stickers both on the door and glove box show 78. I can deal with the side lights are being horizontal instead of vertical if I can get an original grill and lights to mount right. I'm not going 100% original...- Corey Roska

Actually answered my own question, the horizontal light on the fender would be vertical if it was an 80's fender or lower. Looks like I'm buying new fenders and hood. Thanks for the help- Corey Roska

Recently bought a 78 silverado stepside. The grill and lights are off an early 80's chevy (stacked headlights). The guy I purchased it from was of no help.
