I have a stethoscope and frankly I’m having a heard time isolating the noise. It sounds loudest when touching the head between the headers and valve cover, but I could also be wrong. No flat tappets.
Sbc 383 with a roller cam (#12-422-8) and hydraulic roller lifter (#17-5372-16). Noise is present during cold start and dissipates as engine warms up. No noise is noticed after engine is up to 160+ temp.
For reference the motor has less than 5k miles on it and i am using 10w-30 oil and oil...
This morning i go to start my truck and it turns over but wont start. After a couple tries it backfires through the carb (Holley sniper efi). A couple small flames i promptly put out with a rag. Ive never experienced this particular problem. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Also want to note...
ill do my best to capture the noise on video but for now i am plagued with a no start condition. Back fire through the carb :/ ill be working on that for now.
I need help identifying an odd noise that occurs at highway speeds (above about 2500 rpms). I would describe it as a repetitive whirling swoosh noise that picks up as rpms increase and then decreases to nothing as rpms slow.
A bit of context: the hole for the transfer case shifter is wide open...
Is there anybody that could give a recommendation for frame repair in Portland, Oregon. Previous owner cut about 6 inches- 1 foot of frame off the rear of my truck to accommodate a short bed. Well I would like to add that back on so I can finally attach my bumper.
