    Need help with part number/name 1987 V3500 7.4L N TBI

Greg The parts manuals are an invaluable source for info on these trucks. I have the factory service manuals for 86 and 87 if you have need of info that they may have. They helped me putting a locker in my 86 Dana 70HD in the 90's. Back then we didn't have the internet resources available now...

    Engine oil capacity

Bart Some history from someone who remembers many of these changes: -Oil pans up to 73 had a thin seal between the timing chain cover and oil pan. Starting in 74 they went to a thicker seal and the change was made to the oil pan. -Small blocks originally had driver side dipsticks. Starting in...

    1987 V3500 Engine update

Jeff The LT9 350 and 454W were carbureted thru at least 1988. What all they were available in is debatable. If you have the SPID label showing an LT9 it was carb'd in 87. Some of the pics below support this. If you have any further parts manual illustration/part number questions please reach...

A couple more. One of the last post appears to be a dupe, apologies.

Greg Sounds like you may have it figured out. Below are some pages from a parts manual that show it as either a sensor if it has gauges or a switch for the cooling fan if no gauges. These may be of help in the future.

Greg The pics you attached show the sensor on the cylinder head between exhaust ports. Is that the one you're referring to? Butch

    Rochester Quadrajet issue

Dan Set curb idle with engine fully warmed up, it should not need adjusted after that, leave it alone. The fast idle settings are for a cold engine when the choke is in operation. If they are amiss the problem is likely in the choke linkage of choke pull-off.

    1983 chevy k30 dually width

Matt Nice truck! The pic below may help you decipher your VIN. Bucket is on point with the wheelbase measurement, it will definitely determine reg truck or chassis-cab no matter what may have been changed over the years. Unfortunately, over the years many of these awesome trucks have been...

    Quadrajet Secondary issue?

Tyler By your description, and assuming that when you said "until I floor it to kick it down a gear" it accelerates normal/good, tells me the secondaries are not the problem. The secondaries are doing what they should. Part throttle tip-in is not getting fuel flow. Could be many reasons but I...

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Based on this blah blah blah of from the internet cut-and-paste pseudo-info, ad nauseum, I'm guessing you were a bicycle mechanic. Maybe you should spend some time wrenching on something with four wheels.

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Surfer Before you post a comment, you should read the question and your post, if you can understand the words. You said surge brakes (and yes, I know what they are) were only legal in CA in boat trailers. Last time I rented a dual axle U-Haul trailer (in CA) it had surge brakes, ya I still...

Did CA outlaw the surge brakes on U-Haul trailers?

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Surfer First off please refer to my post last week and reread the entire thread. An example may illustrate, have you ever been in a group setting and someone asks "why do politicians suck so bad?" and there is that guy who pipes in with "well actually, just like an internal combustion engine...

    What is this vehicle?

Not sure which year of Found On Russian Dump Exploder (or its big brother the Excavation) it is, but if she would have smacked it a little harder it would have fallen apart for sure.

I'm thinking someone missed the subtleties in the flow of the thread.
