I am 100% sure I do not have a clutch fan. The fan is bolted directly to the water pump pulley with an aluminum spacer. I'll check out your resources and considering, would my best bet be to just install a clutch fan?
Thanks for the input! I'm realizing that I might be more worried about this than I need to be. As you can see from one of my original pictures, I have a direct drive belt driven fan (always running) and it's about 5 inches from the radiator with no shroud. With this setup, the only time I've...
I'll never be doing towing and I either read or assumed that 4 core is better than 3 core (I think 4 is more expensive). So with 4 you get more surface area on the coolant for it to transfer heat, but also more air flow restriction on the electric fans right? So does it really end up making a...
Hi all,
I'm looking for a new radiator and I found this one (screenshot) on Alloyworks. I want to convert to the electric fans and get a 4 row for an engine swap in the future. My truck seems to have these two upper mounts as if my truck came with a smaller radiator but was fitted for a bigger...
Sweet thanks! Sounds like the freeze plug heater is the way to go. Out of curiosity, where does "soft plugs" come from? I guess it just means freeze plug but I haven't heard that before.
For the freeze plug ones, what's the best way to get a freeze plug out? I've watched a couple videos and in one, the guy drilled a hole in it and used a slide hammer which would be easy but probably drop metal shavings in the engine. And in the other, he tapped one side of the plug with a punch...
I like the idea of the magnetic ones, but I can't tell with some whether they have adhesive to be stuck to the pan or if they're magnetic pads. I'm thinking of those rectangular orange ones. Could you suggest a brand or send a link? Thanks
Thanks for your reply. What does the battery have to do with this? And if you think there is a different problem, is there a way I can troubleshoot? One thought I have is that previously I haven't adjusted the electric choke coil on the carb. I should probably do this as it will have a different...
Hello,
As winter approaches, I want to be able to start my truck in less than 30 total seconds of cranking. I live in Wenatchee, WA and last winter got down to about 0 degrees F. I've looked at different engine heater options and I see coolant heaters that get installed in the freeze plug...
Hello, I've set up this experiment with a new temperature sending unit I bought and my original gauge, so that I didn't install it then realize the sending unit wasn't the problem. I figured out where these wires should be run based on checking for continuity in all of the wiring of the temp...
The truck always starts up fine after AND always does well when I give it WOT whether from a stop or starting to go up a hill. its just when I give it gas for a while that it starts to bog. Does that still sound like an HEI issue?
My 1978 K20 just started hesitating a lot and often dying when driving uphill when I have to hold the throttle, even less than half open for more than 10 seconds. 350 engine with brand new Holley carb. Little Edelbrock red fuel pump and a fuel filter with a return line. The filter and pump were...
