    Hi everyone. I’m cleaning up a 14 bolt rear to swap into my k5. Removed perch’s, old lines. Going to replace e brakes, adjusters wheel cylinders and hardware. The shoes look good to me I want to clean out the inside of the drum and backing plate. Dont want to go nuts just knock out the rust...

    I think the 70s spindles were different on k10 vs 20s but the 80s they were the same larger ones. Pretty sure the 10 vs d44 use all the same parts from the knuckle out

    I can drill holes in metal. I can’t guarantee all 16 of them will be in the exact right spots

    The backing plates are what I want to avoid buying only place I see them is eBay for stupid money. None of the bone yards near me seem to have proper donors

    I’m putting an 8 lug FF in a 83 k5 Eventually want a d60 but for the time being I just need 8 lugs so I’m not wearing two different shoes Can I use my existing calipers and backing plates and just get 8 lug hubs and rotors from a k20?

    That’s pretty cool inspections varry from state to state here. Montana would be different than Oregon. Some states have no emissions test like FL others like California make it insanely difficult to pass an emission test FL is fun for the beach and Disney but you are making the right choice...
