I installed a 1988-94 GM full size truck bench seat into my '83 C10 Silverado... I gained a ton of room.
Lots of us install the steering wheels out of these same trucks to also gain some "wiggle" room. The horn contact wire has to be changed. That's all.
You can replace the chrome insert with the "Scottsdale" black insert too. This way, in 10 years, you do not have to worry about that new aftermarket chrome insert breaking down again.
I'd drop the pan for inspection. Replace the filter, add the big bottle of Lucas Transmission Conditioner, and top it off with regular Mercon/Dextron IV. This will be a 50% fluid change. Then drive her a bit, let Lucas go to work....
You are 100% correct, and yes, the plastic filler neck "shroud" is missing here.
So you need the 3-screw metal style, 1984-87 model, fuel filler to hose now too.
1977 will have a round, external gas cap. 1979-84 have the square fuel doors with the 2 bolt filler neck attachment. 1985-91 have the same square fuel door, but the plastic, 3 screw, filler neck inside
