    Hey guys, Need some help. 4l80e in my truck is acting strange. If the gear selector is in the OD position, after a short time (1-2 miles or sometimes sooner) it'll lose all gears and just freewheel/clunk. But if the selector is in the D position all is fine. Converter is fine, locks up...

    yep, everything is is the factory stuff. i used a generic sanden compressor...the regular sized one. Can't think of the number off the top of my head... had the hoses made at a local shop here. Cost me about $140. And thanks for the compliments!!

    All DOD lifters suck. Just swap in a regular cam and ls7 lifters and call it a day. The difference in mpg is negligible at best. And these trucks aren't exactly aerodynamic so the MPG isn't what a new truck would get with DOD anyway. Throw the 5.3 in and enjoy the power and reliability.

    If you want help and advice, you have to do more than say I have a truck with a 350 and I want help on restoring it (which is what your post said before you edited it). Spend some time searching here and on the web. These trucks are 30 years old, there's not a whole lot that hasn't been done...

    Donor truck makes it simple. Plug it in and go. Much easier than fooling with a cable setup. Makes setting up cruise wayyyy easier as well.
