Boiled Linseed oil or Tung Oil work really nice as a preservative. Roll on a coat once/twice year. Mix with a little linseed based stain...

Drove it. Filled it up and drove to nearby town, about 1/2 a tank away (15 miles). Just kiddin of course. Beautiful day for a drive.
