    I found what looks to be a very low mile original '78 K10. it has one fuel tank and no door, just like a '77. I thought all '78's had fuel doors? is it possible some early 78's didn't ?

    It should be pretty easy to paint on. vinyl would work but cost more in the end I'm pretty sure. nobody makes the vinyl and I doubt they ever will since it's not very common or popular.

    It has a cable on the RH side and a square electrical plug in on the LH side. so you're saying disconnect that and see if it helps ?

    Hickey brand. Hickey sold lots of 4x4 accessories in the 7o's and 80's. look at pictures of the 1977 GMC Desert Fox , Hickey did them for GMC and it's all Hickey.
