The shift indicator would indicate it too, right? The 700r4 had an indicator with a D in a square for overdrive, and w/out the square to disable overdrive.

Yep, its a bad pic since I oversized it and cropped it, but this is a 700r4 shift indicator in an 85.

BTW, what you refer to a D inside a square is actually supposed to be a D inside an O for OD, then the D for regular Drive.
