Passenger door won’t lock from inside without key in door or lock from outside with key in door

I installed new key lock cylinders on my ‘85 C10, driver door works as intended, though the passenger acts up when one attempts to lock it from the outside or on the inside when no key is the door. Turning the key to the left locks the door, like one would expect, but when I turn the key back to the right to remove it from the cylinder, it stops in the 11:00 position and and further turning just unlocks the door. In other words, the key won’t come out of the cylinder with the door locked. I also can’t manually manipulate or hit power lock switch for the lock rod from the inside without a key in the door cylinder. Everything in the door looks pretty normal. Any ideas of what could cause this? Thanks.

I thought about that, but when manipulated outside the the truck with nothing attached, it seems to work as intended with its full range of motion, so lack of lubrication doesn’t seem to be a factor this time.

After some research and much frustration, I think someone at some point just put driver side pawl in the passenger side and left it detached from the linkage so the door would work from the inside. Junk yards and body shops that don’t know the wiser or simply don’t care can sometimes do stuff like this when trying to get something back in one piece in a hurry. The fact that the key for the driver side lock I took out didn’t fit the passenger side I took out, tells me that someone may have put this door together from a bucket of various used parts and room full of paint thinner while not wearing a respirator.

I have ordered a dedicated RH lock pawl, we shall see what happens.

Update: I recieved my new set of lock pawls from Classic Industries. What’s odd is that the pawl that fit my passenger door had “LH” on the bag. I am going to assume it was just put in the wrong bag. I have functional locks on my both my doors again, so I am more than happy.
