What's the best gen 454 block to build?

The numbers and code and partial vin are stamped into the block. Mine are cone due to the block being decked. There is also a pad mid block below the intake manifold.
Ok ill have to check mine then!

Passenger side flat spot just in front of the head.

There is a small half round pad just above the timing cover.
Yea i found it now behind the stupid alternator bracket. Says its a 89. And made in janesville, wi. Thats as much as i got lol.

Edit I Think the T means tonawanda engine plant

Intrestingly enough I looked up the casting number from my other big block since everything is bolted to the front but its sitting on the floor

10114182 and it says gen v 91up 4 bolt mains

Well with the title and my lmc book lol everything but the t is the last of the vin.
Ok it’s a 454 lol probably 210 horse lol that’s based on other 454s I’ve found close to your year range. Low compression and the anemic heads they used I’m surprised it’s even at that lol, as far as 2 or 4 bolt next time you chance the oil take a peak up threw the drain plug hole. A bore scope would be helpful but may be able to see with a flash light and a keen eye.

Lol the dish pistons, bath tub like combustion chambers and peanut port heads killed them. They were made for torque not hp. In a truck torque is what you want though.

I know torque is what matter more but still lol

Even the lowest power 454 still made plenty more grunt than the same year 350.
