My 84 C10 came factory with a 305 and I swapped it out for a 1992 350 that I put a mild cam and gear drive in. It has the stock 84 700r4 and convertor. I have a 92 700r4 with a stock torque convertor that came with it and was matched to a 350. Should I get a new convertor? I'm going to rebuild the trans before I put it in just seeing what you guys think would be good... TIA all you squarebody lovers

Get a remanufactured converter, whatever shop builds the trans for you shop be able to order one. A rebuilt converter for your truck would be good, if you want a little more stall speed one from a Camaro or Trans Am would also work.

You can always buy a aftermarket or have a custom converter built, depends on what you want.

Depends on what you consider (mild) cam. If you have stock heads and compression I would stick with a stock converter. If your cam is more radical then possibly a larger converter but i doubt you need it unless the cam is a slug down low. I run a stock converter with a 262in/270ex with .502/.512 lift due to 1.6rr and 007 summit heads(9-1comp). I could see improvements with a 2400-2700 stall but tow a lot so i stayed stock.

For reference the same motor with a 292 480 single grind(still 1.6rr so .512lift) and stock heads(8.0-1 compression) was a slug off idle due to the duration and compression. Cam wanted to run 2200+rpm to wake up and wouldnt tow for crud.
