Truck has been starting great after new parts (battery, alternator, fuel pump, and starter). Just the other day drove to the grocery store came back to the truck and it wouldn't start. It was making short clicking sounds and wouldn't turn over. Tried a jump and nothing changed. Headlights and everything else was working so it's not battery. Even took out the starter and put in a new one and same problem. Any suggestions?

Perhaps the replacement you tried was no good... It's happened to me before

check your connections at the battery, check voltage at the battery it takes 12.6 volts to make a starter work properly other items on the truck will work with less voltage start with the simple things first

Wouldn't trying to jumpstart it, start the truck in that case

one thing i have learned from thirty years in the shop never assume anything and always check the simple things first, if you didn't have a good connection jumping it it was in vain

my 77 suburban was doing that intermittently - it was a bad starter. i put a remanufactured one from o'reilly in and now it's fine!

Whack the starter with a hammer and THEN threaten it. If it won't start actin right you should probably replace the battery cable.

2nd that motion, and it could be the starter still as someone mentioned. As simple as a starter is to change out, take the tools with you to the parts house, have them exchange it under warranty, and change it in the parking lot if you have to.

Went through the same thing. Turned out to be a bad battery ground.
