Being my first square body, seems I am constantly moving the steering wheel back and forth, what should I look for to tighten this pig up?

Make sure are the steering linkages are tight, ie) drag link, tie rod ends, King pins and hub bearings. Then check the front shackle bushings and bolts. I found my frame bushing were shot (oval shaped). Lastly, check the rag joint. I just replaced mine (rubber was super soft) this week with a Jeep Cherokee steering shaft. Huge difference in road feel. Check on page 11 of my build tread it shows pictures and part numbers.

Yes plenty can vouch for the Jeep Cherokee intermediate shaft upgrade. There's a write up on it in the steering section.

Don’t forget to check the frame at the steering box for cracks.
THIS for sure. Do this first. Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the steer box and make sure it's not separating from the frame or the frame is moving with the box.

Checked it, seems the box is sloppy, do I tighten the sector shaft or get a rebuilt box?

I put new poly bushings in my front suspension, swapped to an ORD HD 1.5" tie rod, ORD steering box reinforcement kit, ORD HD shackles and rebuilt the steering column- complete with new bearings. Last week I did the famous 'XJ shaft' swap. My steering is amazingly tight! In fact, I would say it's tighter than a bulls ass during fly season. Did I mention it's tight?

That’s a very temporary fix

I’d get a new box from Redhead

Maybe my luck, but I have NOT seen any rebuilt boxes that were much better than the ones I replaced. I'm with Roundhouse go Redhead
