4 cyl: TH200; 6 cyl: 700r4

4 speed manual: Isuzu; 5 speed manual: Borg-Warner

1983-88 transfer case: NP207; 1989-93: 231C

So those 5 speed manuals were pretty good transmissions....For a short bit I tossed around putting a 350 in the s-10 I had and was told that the 5 speed would have worked with the 350. Is that true? Would that 5 speed bolt up to a 350?

Ohh yeah. I forgot all about the Turbo 200. Pure Junk !!! What I alwasy reffered to as a disposable transmission. Use it till it quits, then install a Turbo 350 in its place.

But wait... So then then that S-10 4cyl had the same bellhousing as 90 degree V6 and V8??? I am not aware of any Th200 in another other Bell pattern?

You would have had to change the bellhousing.

What about a Tech-4?

Tech 4 uses the little 60 degree V6 bellhousing. Which BTW there is a 4L60-E made in that bellhousing for the 60 degree V6 RWD cars like the Camaro's and Firechickens that were V6.

I can tell you that *my* S-10 has a 700R4 and a 3.73 10 Bolt.

While the rear end is stock, the transmission and the extra two cylinders are obviously not :)

Hopefully, it'll be going away this weekend. I found something else I might be trading for, a bagged ex-cab S10 with a 4 banger.

I almost traded my Grand Prix for a 4 banger last summer, but, it was a stock regular cab. It actually had pretty good pick up for what it was and with the 4 cylinder, it can actually achieve mid 20 MPG's.

If this truck is what the owner says it is, it will make for a decent driver/project when I am not working on my Square this summer. The bed isn't notched so I can still carry stuff, too.

Besides, with what is going on in the Middle East these days, gas is going to SUCK next summer. With this truck, I would still be able to afford fuel and drive a truck at the same time. That, in itself, is a double bonus right there.

An additional bonus, it will give me something new to learn. Right now, the truck has an electric compressor, the valves, and the tank, all in the extended cab portion of the cab. I would like to learn how to put all of that else where in the truck. I am thinking of maybe a small diamond plate box attached to the passenger side frame rail would be a decent location for everything but the tank.

As much as I like the bigger trucks, the smaller ones are usually cheaper and easier to work on.

And apparently the S-10 is still made in Brazil but has a different front grille, lamps and bumper, and are available with a 2.8 L diesel engine.
