rear blinker...

my pass rear blinker is not working. it lights up with the headlights, but doesn't come on with the blinker. all other turn signals work. any ideas? its on a 84 c20.

Have you checked the fluid in the rear blinker resevoir???


If the fluid level is OK, you might consider checking the ground strap the light. You'd likely have to pull the lenses out to check it. Its only 4 torx screws the get the lenses out. I'd pull it out for inspection. How about the brake light? Does it work OK on that same side?

it is a double element bulb, half of it works the turn signal and brake light, the other element works the parking light

Yep, that's why I asked if the brake light is working. Part of problem elimination.

of course i checked the reservoir, i also checked they flux capacitor gasket. both were good. and no, the brake light isnt working either.

OK, so that narrows it down to that bulb, or that socket. Likely not the ground if the taillight is working.

changed bulb, and nothing. also cut off socket from spare truck i have and hardwired it into this truck (after cutting the other socket out) and nothing...

More than likely it's a bad connection at the turn signal switch...

Yes, it will. The brake light circuit goes through the turn signal switch.

where is signal switch located? i guess i'll have to find time next weekend to figure it out. the inspection is the only the remaining in making this thing legal!

Steering column. You'll need to remove the wheel and lock plate and there's your switch. The wiring threads down through the column.
