as for the .1 difference in gearing you will be ok no need to worry bout that i know several people that has done that also tires will easily work with that as not all tires are that exact anyway. good deal on your set up. i didnt give but 300 for mine but i will have to make my front 8 lug but mine had already been gone through and had a locker up front also which i was stoked about. also from the knuckles out on the 10 bolt and dana 44 are the same. i think 1 reason why people prefer the dana is the parts selections for gears and lockers are lots better than the 10 however the strength is about the same i personally have had better luck with the dana however do not hesitate about using a 10 bolt if i had to good luck

yea i guess im not scared of the gm10 bolt i just cant find either with a good set of 4.10's. Now i kinda wish i would have just left my dana there cus not much on here is good and if i can get that gm10 for 250 then a set of 4.10 gears for $127 (rockauto) i can just be done with it. And if i get my np205 ill prolli just run on my big ol' 14 bolt which i have all sanded down and cleaned and almost done painting. Looks very good. any preferance on gearlube? ive always like mobile one full syn.

Yes, the bad news is finding a 10 bolt with 4.10 will be a bit of work. The good news, when you do find it, chances are it's already going to be 8 lugged for you since it's going to be coming out of a 3/4 ton, where as about the lowest 10 bolt 6 lug you'll find is 3.73 and most seem to be 3.08's. And you're looking for either, a D44 or a 10 bolt in 4.10. You don't care which.

Have you chosen which 14B FF you want to use? If so, get the other one listed on ebay for some profit, and let it help fund the front axle. Of all the parts I keep for spares, there is no reason to keep a spare 14b Full Float. You break one of those, guy buy a lottery ticket cuz it's your lucky day. 10 bolts, hell yeah, keep a spare around.

Rotors wont fit since they are staked to the hubs with lug studs. Bucket also mentioned a while back there is a little difference in the brakes, like offset or diameter or something. You may be better off finding a 3/4 ton 10 bolt at the junk yard, it would be cheaper than the 4.10 gears and gear setup kit for the 10 bolt you have now. Keep in mind you may need to go ahead and do wheel bearings, ball joints, etc to it but I still think you'd be way ahead going that way.

You don't have a Pull A Part or Pick N Pull? You can get your gears, then get your 8 lug conversion cheap from a PAP or PNP. Hell, even check PNP or PAP for a complete axle.

But buddy, don't listen to me. I'll have you changing your mind and again. Me, I'm sorta in the same boat, and I'm just being patient waiting for the axle I need to show up on CL and I'll pounce on it. Birddoggin CL and be ready to pounce has paid off big for me, but it's also stalled me severely on projects too.

Hey so i spent another day at the junkyard and found an 82 k20 with the front axle still on it, looks in good shape but the only code i could see (Ill take a jack out ther next time and count) is in the glove box and on the axle line its code GQ1 which i guess just stands for Std. which im assuming is not 4.10? So now i have a standing offer on two 10bolt fronts for $250 but my question is this new one has auto hubs while the other has manual warran hubs BUUUUTT the first one i found i looked harder and its has some backyard fab'ed shock mounts which kinda bothers me. sooo which would you pick? i mean i have a np203 anyways and my np205 won't be for a long time.

Standard ratio depends on engine, trans and GVWR if the axle hasn't been replaced or if the info is still legible on the SPID label...

350/3 speed M/6600 = 3.42
350/4 speed M/6600 = 3.23
350/auto/6600 = 3.23
292/4 speed M or auto/8600 = 4.10
350/4 speed M/8600 = 3.73
350/auto/8600 = 4.10

Auto hubs aren't desirable but you could swap your old ones on. As for the booty fabbed shock mounts you could always cut your old ones off and do them up right! Otherwise I would keep looking.

The 82 k20 is a 6.2L and its missing the tranny and transfercase but the stick is still in the floor, and for sure diff than my np203 so if that tells you anything Retro. And it was also an auto. And yea the more i think about it the less im worried about the shock mounts at least thats wat it was and not the spring perches. which also reminds me i should make sure that is out of 3/4 and not 1ton.

If it is out of a 1-ton and it's priced right I would get it if I were you. But that's just me lol.
