Off Road Wheel

How about some opinions of this wheel??? The pic was sent to me by someone who is thinking about getting a set of these in 20 inch for a Yukon. At first I immediatly thought oh hell no. But then, after looking at it for a minute, I got to thinking it might be a pretty cool wheel for a 4x4 Truck, Burb or K5. Still not real sure what I think about it, but I am suprised I'd even consider it. I think they'd go great on a CUCV for sure.

I dont think it is a very "functional" offroad wheel. Trennies (20" wheels) cut down on your sidewall, making it more likely to bash up your wheels. And if they are aluminum, that's another strike against them. When aluminum gets bashed on a rock it usually breaks. Steel wheels bend and can be hammered back into decent enough shape to hold the bead and get off a trail. I'm sure I'll be seeing them all over the Wal-Mart parking lot soon, and the Gander Mountain right next door to Wal-Mart will have 95% of the vehicles sporting these.

You forgot to mention replacing tires for 20 inch wheels sets you back 3 or 4 times what it would cost to buy tires for a 15 inch wheel.

But for the "outdoorsman" living in his cabin at lake Tahoe nothing, would look more rugged and convincing than a set of camo aluminum wheels on his new 50k dollar pickup. It will finish off the stuff he probibly already has like the camo realtree trim package, seat covers and rear window film.

go with your first thought "OH HELL NO" everyone is correct 20" wheels are a "PRETTY" not a really good functional wheel for any serious 4X4

I agree on the 20in part for sure. But I was more reffering to the print. I guess I might be able to like it, but I don't think the "like" would last very long. Never know. They might take off like fire in So Cal Santa Ana winds.

i looked up the definition of "rugged and convincing", and oddly enough, it never mentioned anything about TRASHY. i think we need to start an amendment to the dictionary.

I think those wheels have their place, like on new 3/4 ton pickups. The trucks are way to damn big to do serious wheeling anyways. They look alot like the 20's my father in law has on his F-250 and they look awesomely sweet. The most off road the F-250 has saw since 09 is snow storms and a little bit of dirt road.
