NP241C Transfer Case Fluid Change

Both drain and fill plugs are located on the rear of the unit. I did not bring my large wrenches and used an adjustable to remove them, but I measured them and they are somewhere around a 1 3/16" to a 1 3/8" Wrench size.

Remove the fill and drain plugs and let drain. Lefty-Loosey. Clean any dirt and grease off fill plugs. Note the plastic sealing washers on the fill plugs, make sure they are clean as well as the surface on the trans case where they need to seal...

Use Dextron/Mercon II for this unit. Replace drain plug and fill until it runs out of the bottom of the fill hole. This unit took 3 quarts.

you're lucky lol I didn't have a bottle nipple when I did mine. I ended up getting a shampoo bottle, cleaning it out very well, filling it with atf then trying to squeeze it in that hole. I got more outside then in LOL.

I need one of the fluid exchangers bad. The kind you can stick an end in the fluid and the other in said component to fill and just pump it.

How did it drain out the bottom plug if the plug is inserted and tight?
