Greetings all,
I bought a c10 scottsdale about 6 months ago to use in a move and was planning on selling it and buying a brand new dodge diesel.
Since then I've learned that there's a huge aftermarket for C10's and I can learn a lot if I just keep working on this one. That and I have no interest in buying an 80k+ truck.
I've been working on cars for about 20 years but I'm a gas turbine "specialist" working offshore in Malaysia for a month and then home in Ca for a month. I want to learn how to do patch panels, body work, paint, as well as tap the no doubt infinite knowledge of guys who've been involved in squarebodys for a long time.
My goal is to end up with a turbo LS motor but so far the truck is doing it's job as an around town dirt hauler. It's in rough shape but that's a plus for me because I can screw up while I'm learning. Like I can practice welding (never welded before) in repairs and if I screw up too bad, there's replacement parts I can order and bail myself out.
I'm offshore at the moment and don't have any pictures of the truck (no nickname for it yet) but will post them when I'm stateside. It's not exactly a diamond in the rough, more like a turd in the rough that's been rattle can'd flat black.
Hopefully I can help and be a good citizen on your forum.
