So I obviously have some other things I have been planning on starting up to for the winter and yeah it has nothing to do with the burb but I scored on supplies last night for brewing beer. decided I wanted to give it ago and ended up filling the car off craigslist for only 25 bucks...just got to find a fermenter and stainless steel pot and I should be good to go now!

second: anyone have any advice on welding aluminum? I was going to make a stand for the brewing but I don't have a welder and figured brazing might work fine....anyone know if this is okay? would it work for building vehicle related racks too...or is it too weak?

in regards to the above I have the ingredients and brew kettle now too!
Anyways, I got the priming done this weekend and prep and tape done so next step is paint. it will likely be a 20 foot paint job but for now it is sooo much better than it was even with the ugly brown primer. So after Im think interior finishing touches like rear bedliner and then hopefully on to axles and a mild lift. That's my dad in the pics he has been a huge help so far, gotta buy that man some beer, maybe just give him the car down the road or something

You should remove both bumpers before spraying! Also remove the rear tail lenses too

Well started painting over the weekend got two coats of red on and.....it looks like poop so I have decided to for the time being use the rubberized bed coating as it covers better and takes only one coat with the primer. I tested it on the lower panels and it looks fine and will serve the purpose for me of camping and beach fishing. So Ill get some more of that since I ran out and post up pics soon. I had a bunch more but cant find it from when I lived up north. I used to use it on my 2500HD to resist salt and it was great.

SO it looks like im moving the headliner next and customizing inside some and then axles this winter?? maybe?

I am painting without a gun, I just needed something to cover the horrible paint and body rust I removed and repaired for the time being so Im going with the black rubber rust resistant stuff, cosmetics aren't a huge deal to me right now as much as function and being able to use it for hunting beach etc etc...maybe down the line ill get it painted better. Ill try and take a pic of the stuff im using and post up this week

so....once you do that how hard will it be to take back off down the line when you're ready for a good paint job? The reason I ask is because I've heard bedliner is a huge paint to remove once applied so curious if the same applied to rubberized undercoating.

I have painted a couple vehicles for the same reasons you are and simply used a short nap roller and Rustoleum enamel with great results! Last time i painted my Butterscotch truck was with Rustoleum but I thinned and sprayed it through my HVLP gun using a 1.5mm nozzle. It still looks good after 10 years.

yeah honestly I was thinking about that I can get Naptha or xylene and thin some and then get the compressor and gun from harbor freight for like 80 total plus discount....Im not sure however about how hard it is to get off but if its rubberized like plastidip it should peel....otherwise ill just blast it off with power washer or beads when that day comes

rubberized undercoat! love it. I used it on my previous truck too, once I saw the red was covering like crap I found an old can of the black rubberized and it covered much better and cost less and last forever from my experience. I still have some touch up spots to do and a little bit on the roof but its good enough for me. Now the roof rack will go up then the headliner and paint the rear interior floor, pretty simple stuff while I look for axles.

Anyone know a good way to remove tint? the tint the previous owner put on the rear windows looks like crap and is cracked, im getting rid of it but the razor method is taking forever

Oh and my first batch of beer is almost done fermenting, next will be bottling, got to figure out how to add priming sugar

not bad :) Now, if you put a stock grill back in it I think it'd really come together IMO
