I am mostly likely going to use my 85 K20 over the winter and pulling a trailer w/Skidsteer and would like to set it up with a decent brake controller. I am just looking for opinions and first had experience with them on these old trucks.

Our family truck had a Tekonsha controller for a long time. I don’t remember what it has now or why it was replaced, but I don’t like the one now. The Tekonsha always did its job well, and I like that big slider switch on them instead of the ones that have the smaller, angled switches.

I've used various brands and types. They all seem to do a good enough job for me. As long as it activates the brakes and I can control how much they grab, that's good enough imho.

Same as above. I have one mounted instead of an ash tray. It applies brakes so it is good enough for me.

I ran a Tekonsha Voyager #9030 on 5 of my trucks including a couple Squarebodies dating back to 1991 and never had any issues. I'm sure there is newer technology, but I liked the compact design and ease of adjustment.

I have the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller in my Silverado and the P2 in my K20. Has a lot of options/features to them and they work good.

first consideration is Digital or Mechanical. Myself I tow a car and trailer with a $99 Amazon special. 9 years and counting.

My '78 has a period correct controller on it. It seems to work also, but the only trailers I've hooked up so far had inop brakes.
