If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it. What is the largest factory tire option in 1985 for the 2wd 3/4ton suburban with the Steel wheels? And what is the largest tire I can run with the steel wheels at stock ride height without scrubbing? I know the rim is 16in but I don't know how wide. Some say 6in some say 8in. Thank you to anyone who can help

Thanks for the quick response. I was figuring it would be like the other trucks but wasent sure because of it being a suburban. My suburban has 32-11.50-r15 but it's a 1/2ton. It scrubs a little in the front but only sometimes and these tires are about 1/2 tread left. Just don't want to buy tires and they not clear any.

I believe the largest stock tire size in any model was a 30.5 " tire

I'm not sure. I always remember it being 31x10.50. But maybe 3/4 ton is different for some reason.

You can google Old Timer's Tire Guide and look up your year and it will give you any and all options and tell you the width of your current rim. assuming it's a stock rim. I think stock tire size is 245/75R 16 and plus 1 size would be 265/75R16 also it would be a load range E tire. I know that where I work I wouldn't be able to mount anything larger than a 265, you would want to buy after market rims to go larger. You can look on most driver's side door frames and there is a tire size placard that tells you the stock tire size info. If your Suburban came with 15's it would most likely be a 235/75R15 or you could use a 31x10.50R15 which is called a floatation tire.

I'm about 90% positive that it has 3.42 or 3.43 in it. I'm wondering if 32x11.50 will fit on a 3/4ton 2wd. They do fit on the 1/2ton 2wd. I would imagine the 3/4 ton would have slightly more room because the heavier rated springs but they also have an additional 300 more pounds from the big block to drop it down. Is there anybody with a similar set up?
