A lot of folks say it's easier to pull the front clip. I guess they aren't much concerned with good panel gaps because it can be a PITA to get everything lined up again.

I had a '77 Blazer with 7 inches of lift and had no trouble doing a motor swap with the front clip on. It did have some bald 31's on it at the time though. I didn't even have to remove the hood either.

Yeah I was gonna say if you can score some old wheels take your front ones off and just put the plain wheels on and set it all the way down that way.

100% truth here. I'd said what I said earlier just cuz it was lifted and never tried pulling a motor on a lifted rig before. So if you can remove the motor WITH the clip on it makes the whole process easier :waytogo:

Now as far as taking the motor out with the hood on you are MUCH better than me :) I had to take the hood off of mine and it just made it easier for me but I'm kind of a Nancy :D

I pulled my front clip off, mainly because I figured that was just how it was done. I was gonna clean and respray my engine compartment anyway so that made it very easy. I was able to pull the engine and replace it alone, I feel mainly because the front clip was off. With the air impact wrench it really only took me about forty minutes to pull the clip, so it really wasn't a big deal.

Dude set it down on the rotors, **** the ********.

Get a couple peices of small 2x4 to keep from crushing the dust sheild, chock the back wheels and set it on the wood blocks. That will give you plenty of clearance.

This was the one here. Left everything in place and pulled the motor in an afternoon, spent an afternoon power washing/scuffing/painting the engine bay, and then another afternoon to stick a motor back down in there. Having smaller tires on it made it easy, not too high, but high enough you could lay under it without jacking it up. When up top, I generally would sit on the radiator support and rest my feet on the frame rails.
