Alright guys I need some info. I been researching but it doesn't seem like my idea is very popular. Currently my truck has power windows and locks. I ABSOLUTELY hate these slow power windows. I felt like half my life wasted away today just waiting for one of these darn windows to roll down today.
So here is what I am wondering about. what all do I need to change on my truck to convert to manual windows?...I would much rather crank the windows up and down than to have to deal with these darn things?

Power window Mod. It runs the power for window motors directly from the battery and uses relays and the factory switches to go up/down. Our systems loose a bunch of power to the window motors because of crappy or worn out switches. You still need to make sure that your window regulators and tracks are clean and greased.

That's what happens when you don't feed the hamsters down inside the doors.

robert8096 hit on it. I would look into getting a diagnoses on WHY they are slow now. Just because they are old and slow doesn't mean they are doomed forever. A little lube on the moving parts and maybe a new regulator or motor is all you need.

Yep, x3. I agree with Robert and Green. 89Suburban just did a write up on cleaning and lubing your regulator springs and that made a big difference on his.

I'd at least give it a try. By the time you bought regulators, cranks, manual window door panels and all the involved labor, you probably could just repair what you have and keep your creature comfort.

I'm by far not lazy and don't mind cranking a window, but I sure like being able to roll the passenger side down without laying across the cab.

And even if you do end up going the manual route, I bet someone with manual windows would be willing to swap all of the doors guts needed to make this swap happen. Then two people would be happy, and both parties could get out of it really cheap. Like a 12-pack cheap.

That is what I would do if I bought a later square with the mini-quad front end. Find someone who wants that front and currently has a round eye front, and simply make a weekend out of swapping the necessary items. Both parties are happy and it can (theoretically) be done for just labor, no $$ needs to change hands. Same principle with your windows.

Great idea. That'll ensure they're trash and take the wondering out of it won't it.??? :shitsweak:

But they will go up really quick, exspecially the 110volt.

If you go that route I have everything for the manual setup except the door panels. If your not picky about the door panels your existing PW/PL panels will work. This is my 86 when I first got it. It had manual windows with PW door panels.
