You can call or email the BAR: https://www.bar.ca.gov/About_BAR/Contact_Us.html

They might direct you to a local referee: http://asktheref.org/Locations/tabi...BizSearchResult&Searching=1&fullcrit=torrance ca&zip=&city=&state=&country=&m=20000&tag=All
Oh, very cool. Thank you for that information. I'll check into it. :)

I knew one of the members was a seasoned emissions tech from CA, I just forgot who, thanks @skysurfer for chiming in.

No problem, but bear in mind it was 35 years ago (before the majority of the GMSB members were even born) so my emissions knowledge has faded a bit. @HotRodPC is another source, he was a smoggy back then too and hopefully didn't do as many drugs as I did.

Well, I'm hoping that this thing is so old (its right on the front two years of SMOG control) that the laws will not be as stringent as they got in the later 80s and 90s when they really started making progress on emissions control.
So hopefully what you know of 35 years back is along the right lines that they will be looking for. :)
I appreciate the help!

Umm.... I bought a 95 Tahoe, had an aluminum head Edelbrock motor built for it and swapped out its motor for the brand new built one, drove that for a while working out all the bugs, sold it, bought a 01 4Runner, lifted it and drove that for a couple years, sold it, and a few months ago I bought a 2006 Silverado Z71 that I've since lifted, wheels, tires, etc. and have been daily driving this thing.

Meanwhile... the squarebody has sat covered by a tarp and washed in periodic rainfall. hah.

I know this was mentioned in the older responses, but first find out if the truck was a Federal or California emissions truck. From there, find out the GVW of your truck. Hopefully it's Federal. My '77 K5 had a 400 SBC with HD emissions. Those ran on Regular gas. What size fuel filler pipes due you have? If they are the larger ones (compared to current unleaded fill pipes) it was probably an HD emissions truck. I don't know if in '77 the gas gauges were including "Unleaded Only" on the face.

The GM Heritage center can help with the RPO codes for your truck too. For $50 you can get the original build info.

Do you have a tag like this on the core support? Sometimes they were on the air cleaner (I know you don't have it). These numbers are for a '77 Corvette with a cat, EGR-EFE set up.

77 180 HP L-48 Federal 460125 AY 8999761 5.50
