I've done my share of body work and rust repair on semis but this is my first square body. My question: do I need to leave the fenders off while replace the rocker panels? I've entertained the idea of bolting the fenders back on but something tells me that may not be the right way of doing it. Thanks in advance.

I would have fenders and doors on just for mock up. I'm in the process of changing my rockers and they were not quite the right curve and the bottom lip would of been up a quarter inch from were the front fender bottom lip is.

Ah... that's the reason I asked before going any further. I still need to sand and paint the fenders but I can put them on, mock up the rockers and tack in place.

Thanks for the response!

Just to clarify, the fenders need to be removed to replace the rockers. Just do a trial fitment of the doors and fenders before you weld the rockers in place.

If you bought the full rocker you will need the fender off to install it. But check and measure check and measure again before the old comes off (if it’s not too late) so you will know your placement to get your lower door gap right.
