My 85 4x4 has dual front shocks, just wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages. Thought of ditching the duals and getting some tuff singles. Any thoughts. Also this truck is used for weekend driver in small town and light mud.

you can go to lmc truck and buy the factory front duel shock bracket and run the factory style duel front shocks

i have them on my 90 jimmy it rides rough as hell i think the duel front shocks might make it ride rougher not sure. i have been wanting to single it out to see if it rides any better.

its 6'' lifted with skyjacker nitro shocks

and i got a set of the duel shock brackets and another set of sky jacker nitros for my crew cab. it a whole lot more truck then my jimmy it might work good with quad front shocks.

if you buy 2 new shocks itll be way too stiff. the only time someone needs dual shocks is when they do high speed runs so it dissipates heat better. 2 shocks doing the work of one. but with those nice dual shock setups the dampening is adjusted on the shocks. with the shocks i expect you to get, theyll be intended for standard single shock setups. I know the allure of getting 2 cuz its cool but your ride will suffer and its not necessary. just my .02

stiff springs man. dual shocks will give those springs better control but it would make the ride even stiffer...

I've got dual shocks on the front of my Burb, I've run single and dual and never noticed a difference in ride quality.

Just curious were they the same shocks?

They are the cheap shocks that come with an RC lift kit. When I originally installed them, I didn't yet have the brackets for the quad shocks. Drove it 5K or better like that. Then I got the brackets and installed the second pair of shocks and the ride seemed to be the same.

I don't know how they are valved. Being the cheapos, I assume they are just regular shocks.
