Man, those chevettes are getting extremely hard to find especially in nice shape. My dad had an 80 when I was a kid. I'd love to snatch one up and DD it. Fond memories of that little car :)

I have fond memories of one too when I was about 19 or 20. A bit to much to drink and bit to much power in my car. :happy175: I was drifting before drifting was invented. Came around a corner sideways, wiped it out and put it up in the front yard and kept right on going too.

Karma was a bitch too. My 62 C10 got nailed by a drunk driver about 8 months later. Of course he got caught but hit 4 other parked cars too. When he tried to run, to much damage to his car he didn't get far. Never got a dime out of the bastard.

 @HotRodPC I don't have a drunk driving story but we had a Dodge Omni for a while that my parents let my brother DD and I got to borrow from time to time when I was 16-17 rather than drive my parent's nicer cars. I tell this story because an Omni is along the same lines as a Chevette. Long story short....me and my buddy were headed to football practice one day and were going down this curvy road. I said "hey watch this" (automatically means better get 911 handy LOL) and took this hairpin turn at probably 30-35 mph. The car went up on two wheels (probably up a foot or so in the air) but luckily the turn straightened quickly and we slammed back down on all fours again. Scared the crap out of us!! :roflbow: Someone was protecting us that day because we should have flipped that friggin car!

I been there done that in a place called LaHabra Heights in So Cali. Car load of people and you can fit alot in a 64 Grand Prix. 7 of us in that car. Hairpin 15mph turn. We took it about 30-35 a few times. Decided to cool it after 1 time we got real close to going over the edge of the cliff. I did lose 2 hub caps over the hill and they bounced on down as they rolled. Ended up in some rich dude's pool down the hill. They had enough bounce to make it over the 6 foot block wall fence. STUPID KIDS !!! Lucky to be alive today.

Not in the market myself but is this a decent deal? http://bellingham.craigslist.org/pts/5035091839.html

Not bad at all. Being a 3/4 ton unit, it'll bolt right into a 1/2 ton too. Could be used in a 2 or 4wd too. I'd get him down to $225 though when I offered $200. Those things go in spirts. Sometimes you'll see 3 or 4 for sale at the same time, then it might be you don't see one for sale in a reasonable distance for weeks.

I've gotten one for FREE, answered a CL FREE ad needing it hauled off. 14b FF 3.73 drum to drum with springs and mega springs at that. It had some added.

Paid $100 for 1, 14b FF drum to drum 4.10 open diff which is what I preferred so I could easily add a Detroit Locker to it without having to swap carriers which also came with OEM C6P springs, one of which had been removed already.

I forget for positive now what I paid for it, but I'm wanting to say it was $150 I paid and I help pull it, for 1 out of a CUCV. 14b FF with 4.56's and Detroit Locker, also had disc brake conversion on it so it was disc to disc with calipers. Had a couple chipped teeth on the ring gear. I sold the carrier for $100, kept the Detroit Locker, it's going into the 4.10 unit I bought for $100 and the disc brakes are going on the 4.10 unit also.
