Alright guys

Recommend everything to build a Lifted K20 on a budget. Specifically, A 16 year old kid in high school budget. I don't have alot of money left after i bought a C20 and a K20 and sunk quite a bit of money building a 350 4 bolt for this truck. I don't need top of the line components. I just want a cool looking truck with a lift on it that i can take in the bush with some buddies. Im not trying to redneck the thing together or build a top of the line mud truck, Just make a cool looking truck.

I'm VERY good with the mechanics of anything so dont feel like you need to dumb it down either or recommend easy stuff. I have access to pretty much any tool too so thats no issue either.

Lets see your suggestions!

On the lower end of the scale Zone Offroad has a kit for I think about $500 canadian which gives you a 4" lift.

I know some will disagree- but check your local craigslist under auto parts and see if there are any parts trucks or used lifts in there. I've seen a few recently where people remove them just because they no longer wanted the truck that high. Avoid ones where the truck was wrecked. I saw a 4" complete lift with shocks last month for $150. In the picture the springs still had black paint (not all rusted).

Thanks for the ideas guys, Ill be looking around on kijiji for some parts. Also, I will be needing to do a body lift to clear the transfer case, as i am putting the C20 body onto the K20, and it has the low 2wd hump. I was thinking of just a hockey puck lift for that.

Swap trans tunnels, the one from the K20 should be bolt in and just cut the one from the C20. If the C20 was a manual transmission, it will have the higher bolt in hump anyway.

Do NOT do hockey pucks for crying out loud. If you can afford to do **** right the first time don't do it at all.

Rednecking a truck is a way to get yourself really hurt really fast. $500 6" lift on ebay? LOL that obviously does not include shipping and would be scared to know what parts it contains.

Rocky Mountain suspension has a rough country 4" for around $500. Comes with everything other than rear springs. Get the rear blocks though.

Theres a guy around here with at least 20 squarebodies sitting out in a feild and A few of them have lifts on them. Im going to stop tonight and ask him what he's doing with them and if he'd be willing to let me buy some parts from them if theyre in good shape.

As for the hockey puck lift. It's been done alot around here and i haven't seen any fail, But then again i probobly haven't been around long enough to see them fail...

A 4" rough country lift for your truck is $349.95. A 6" kit is $445.95. Comes with front springs, rear blocks, new ubolts, bushings, steering arm, shocks, and all your mounting hardware.

That's not bad, I will still be needing a body lift on top of that to clear transfer case though.

For another $30 you can buy the transfer case lowering kit, which you have to have with a 6" anyway, but I'm not sure how much it lowers it or how much you need it lowered. A good quality body lift can be had for $100 or so off the same website.

Didn't know about that. That seems like a better option as I'd rather just do a suspension lift and avoid the body lift
