I just had a 496 built for my 87 V10. Will it fit under the stock hood? Or will i need to go with a cowl hood ? I just dropped the truck off at the body shop so I cant set it in there to see. Thanks in advance!!

Of course it will fit. These trucks came from factory with big blocks so no problem. Even the engine mounts will work. You will need to redo your exhaust. Hopefully your running long tube headers. You will also need fresh extra shorts too because the torque you will feel might make your bowels loose.

Your going to also need a bigger rad.

And we're going to want some pics too, when the truck rolls out of the shop.

The engine is a 98 Vortec 454 roller cam stroked to a 496. With Eagle forged crank and H-beam rods. Mahle pistons, Howards cam, Brodix Race rite heads. And Brodix intake. Leaning towards a Holley sniper EFI kit to feed it.

That's a bit of a revy intake you have.

Looks good. Your machinist went over that crank right? I have a BB in my 87 V10 I used A-body headers. You may need to notch the frame on the driver side in cylinder 1 tube. I did. I also used solid mounts tho. Do your self a favor put the headers on the engine before you drop it in the frame. Is your front clip going to be on when you put the engine in? Also I had to modify my cross member for oil pan clearance. I can find the pics if you want to see.

Honky you actually already sent me the pics in a previous post! thank you! And what do you mean about going over the crank? The standard measurements? ( plastic gauge?) Or something else?

Shiftpro. Yea I had a duel plane intake initially however I have seen that the Throttle body EFI kits are kind of picky when it comes to Dual vs. Single plane intakes. So that's why I choose that intake.

Eagle cranks can be iffy at best on the factory finished dimensions. And have been known to have out of round journals right out of the box. I'm not hating on your parts just trying to make you aware of possible issues.
