what is the difference between a 73-80 bench.... and a 81-87 bench?

cause i think the earlier one may sit lower? but i have no idea.

the seat in my 1987 is rather high. its not as bad as a WWII jeep with the steering wheel on your nuts, but its the closest vehicle to it ive driven.
sitting lower would be nice...

is it possible to put a 90s bench seat in the truck?
because the 90s seats recline =)

Bench seats

1981-1987 seats have molded openings in the base for the seat belts to pass through. My 83 sits almost to high and my 85 I can't see over the steering wheel. Not sure what causes that- padding maybe??? The mounts look the same.

The cushions are shaped/style different too. The 70's seats also have deeper skirts, with less access under the seat.

My 84's seat always felt a little high to me. The '79 seats feels just about right. The '89 seat in my Burb feels right too (lower than the '84) but I think the springs in it are weak. The last owner of that one was a giant dude.

the seats are identical except for the brackets.
youre right.

the 1987 seat - left, sits higher off the floor to get your hand under the seat.
the 1979 seat- blue, has lower tracks.

both fit my truck with some finessing to line up the bolt holes.... just need to change that color lol

the blue 79 does feel sliiiiightly lower to sit in

well... the blue seat had the original truck's original build sheet hidden inside of it...
well... it had pieces of it...

on one of those pieces there is a part number for an electric fuel pump... so the seat is another 1987 seat LOL!!!!!!!!!!
it sits up even higher now because the foam hasn't collapsed.
so its super comfortable... but... damnit!!!!! haha

I have the opposite problem. I sit too damn low! I need a bench that doesn't make me look like a 8yo behind the wheel.
