The radiator core support...the grill...the lights...the pigtails that go with the lights, hopefully the donor has plenty of wire from the pigtails to keep the splicing to a minimum...there's a small metal strip that goes between the bumper and the grill itself...I would recommend to change out the mounts under the radiator core support since its gonna be off anyways, wouldn't hurt.

That's the correct way to do it. I've seen a few guys cut up their existing grill an "make" it fit. Personally I don't like to do it that way. If you're gonna do it...do it right.

You might want to do some more checking because as far as i know if its coming from an 89 1 on truck then you shouldnt have to change the core support. From 80 to 87 on all 1/2, 3/4 and ton and burbs and blazers used the same core support and ton burbs and blazers used it till 91 when they changed the body style to the same as the newer truck.

Double check it and then triple check it. 81-87 Trucks/Suburbans used the same doors, fenders, core support, etc. 88-91 Suburbans and Crew cabs Only used the same doors and fenders, but different core support. Regular size trucks from 88 and up went to the new body style.

The '89-'91 core support was changed to accommodate the newer style headlights.

'89-'91 squares used different core supports than the '88 & older trucks. Within those last 3 years there were still 2 core supports, 2 headlamp vs 4 headlamp.

Be sure you get the right one...
