Someone can correct me, but I believe a propane torch should be efficient enough for a preheat.

Probably... Maybe... There are alot of maybes in this lol. And these cars flexed like cardboard brand new. I'd still cut the bad metal out, fashion my patches, and take it all to a pro. The actual welding bill should only be 100 bucks or so.

If it were me, and I lived close to Honky Kong Jr. I'd take him up on it.
I'd also take some bumper thingies, window thingies AND lock thingies with me.
Otherwise I'd look for a new (another) sub-frame.

I would if I had a way up there kinda far for me and no way to haul it. I am looking into maybe curt or andy welding it up if possible. I already cut that chunk out to try and find some good metal doesn't look too terrible a lil ways back into it.

Pics? I got plenty of steel. I had to patch up my Ventura subframe, I added 1/4 AR plate to it though. It was good for jumping train tracks lol

How much would you charge to make a skid plate for a suburban gasoline tank?

Like a factory one?
I need to look under there again, but might get away with just bolting in a large sheet directly to the frame below the tank. Just need something back there, already have few scrapes and dents on the tank it self. If easy way does not work, need to fab something

Someone like this is who you need to find, someone who welds for a living every day and is subject to inspections and everything else.

A propane torch and your buddies borrowed welder will probably, maybe, should work. But I would really encourage you to let a pro handle this, these thing's were wet noodle stiff brand new

Maybe a better option to replace the front sub frame.

that was my thoughts but being in the rust belt and all the salt and age most I find may end up being the same. I don't get to travel to find another and the shipping cost of truck freight alone is more then I usually have to spend at one time.

I swear I'm building this car 20 at a time or maybe up to 50 or a hundred every once in awhile if I'm lucky.

I've already talked to curt and andy about maybe doing something with it, and I know my mom's boyfriends welder being a lincoln 225 arc welder would have enough heat, but he's a newb like me so no help.

A buzz box Lincoln is more than capable, my concern is more of the skill level involved.

No offense, it's just the kind of thing you really want to get right, you know?
