hi, im brand new (first post) im building a 1976 k25 crew cab, just ordered some 315/75/16's and a 4inch bds lift. trying to decide on 16inch rims to order..im looking at some 16x8 with a -5mm offset. what do you think will they rub with a negative offset at all? should I be looking foe a 0 offset? i cant see 5mm making that big of a difference. also does anyone know what stock gearing is in 3/4 ton 76 crew? looks like a dana 60 rear but im not sure if its a little 44 up front or?

I have that exact wheel/tire combo. Asking if it rubs or or not, I can tell you without a doubt the answer is...maybe. The front might touch, but it depends on the spring rate and how you drive. Day to day driving with mine there's no contact, but when I'm carrying a lot of weight offroad and getting twisted up in the gullies it'll rub. I'm running EZRides and they flex a lot more than the Rough Country springs I had. I don't think the -5 offset is going to make any difference.

You should be ok with 8 wides and 35's with that off set at -5mm , (4.30 inches back) . Your rear should be a 14 bolt corp , ff and the front a dana 44 if its all stock with 4.11 gears , (very few 4.56's out there stock).

Just run a 6" and be done with it , crew cabs are so long they dont look to high with a 6 , imo. , and welcome.

thanks guys. i probably should've gone 6 but its just gonna be a family cruiser, on road princess (for now) so i should be good, maybe haul my banshee around a bit. i stayed away from rough country because i have heard the keyword there is rough. the bds kit comes with "glide ride" springs that i hear are comparable to ezride's. we'll soon see. im pretty happy with the shape of this crew cab for being nearly 40 years old. dead straight with minimal rust, should be a fun project. my next issue is going to be trying to get unlocking hubs as its got a auto/203 full time 4wheel setup now.

Im pretty sure any tire rim combo that uses 35" tires with a 4" lift will rub if you start flexing the frame off road.

You always see guys where the wheel wells are just shaped a little different LOL that's from slight rubs

If you are dead set on 35s just go with a 6" lift.

I ran a 4 inch BDS lift with 16x8 wheels, it was fine for street driving... with 33's. With 35's, you will more than likely get light rubbing while turning into driveways or similar. Any use off road and you will need to do some light trimming.

BTW, those springs should ride nice for you. Well, as good as a solid-axle leaf-sprung truck can ride.

The next best thing is to get a couple of zero-rates from ORD. Then you can move the axle ahead 1". Also a body lift but no more please than 1". You can still twist it up enough for fender contact, and perhaps a tad of trimming will be enough.
Crew cabs rock!
