seems like I remember somebody mentioning that Gear Vender would give you a certain amount of credit for turning in an older unit towards the purchase of a new one?
Probably me, lol, but yeah if you have an old core you can turn it in for an upgrade, been quite a while since I did it so I don't know what their policy is now, but when I bought mine a new one was $2500, I got mine for $1100 and that included a sump pan and the new electronics, only difference it came in a plain box..

Today i finally got around to installing my new radio. Its just a media player and tuner. Figured no need for a cd. They are about as outdated as cassette tapes by now lol. I must say though. The factory radio location sucks. Cant see it through my steering wheel. I also got my tail lights rewired and put a new to me toolbox in the bed.

Today, I replaced spark plugs and wires with ACDelco Rapid Fire plugs and ACDelco wireset, changed air filter, wipers, and horn (which I returned to OEM). Engine is smooth as silk and the Blazer horn was a total waste of money. Damn thing sounded like a fart and was quieter than oem.

#1 plug is the only one showing any signs of burning oil. It's been a year since last change and all others were a nice brown color, #6 was not changed. I cannot remember how I changed it last time. Not only is the header in the way, but so is the oil dipstick. It's almost impoossible to get the plug wire to snap on. I got it though. The old plug wire wasn't and showed arcing at the base of the boot.

Pulled the driveshafts and carrier out of my Suburban yesterday.

Made a dumb ass mistake, too: forgot to set the parking brake and didn’t chock the wheels. I’m blaming the whiskey hangover for my oversight.

Laying on my back in the driveway with half my body under the truck, I Kung-Fu gripped my way out of death by grabbing the pinion yoke with both hands to stop the truck from rolling into the street over my dumb ass. Hollered for my wife and she set the brake.

Got a little road rash on my shoulder, forearm, and knee from being dragged. Better than getting squished, though. That hangover cleared up right quick, too.

Definitely top 10 material for biggest mistake I’ve made wrenching.

This weekend I revisited some projects. After installing relays for the power windows, while going down the highway one went up halfway, then down then stopped all together. The other one just went down all the way before the fuse blew. So I took the doors apart again, put on new connectors and new switch which fixed the problems.
The factory light switch and dimmer started smoking when I was playing with some of the wires behind the gauges. It started glowing red then melted apart, so that's fixed....
I've started making adapter pieces to anchor down the New Vintage gauges and get the dash put back together.
Finally, I've started painting parts of the engine as I take them off to work on things. My girlfriends dad always said that the engine runs better when it's painted. Starting to think there's something to that.

Might be that you've got the part off, why not inspect it during or prior to prepping for paint.

That sounds like a close call. Getting run over would have made for a way less exciting day.

C'mon.....20" wheels aren't considered "big"...hell most oem wheels are 20". 15" wheels are becoming...well...."collectable" since no one wants them anymore.
I do! I like my 15s. Always have. When i lifted my suburban i went from stock 16s to 33x12.50x15s. Im havin a hard time trying to find aluminum slots in 15" i keep findin 14"
