My 700R4 is leaking from something near the TV cable on the transmission. Does anyone have any ideas what may cause it to leak?

I think there is an O-ring on it. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong on that. Could be just loose too.

I believe you just have to drop the pan to unhook the cable. Then there is one screw that holds the cable down to the trans housing.

I've already dropped the pan twice and I'm getting really tired of that

Yeah just finished watching it, now the question is whether or not I've got the room to get the old grommet out and replaced with a new one without disconnecting the tv cable from the throttle body.

You could try disconnecting the cable sleeve housing from the throttle bracket. If that is a successes you would not need to adjust the tv cable all over again.

I'm wondering if it is even worth going through all the trouble especially since I pulled a 4L80E from a 1991 V2500 Suburban and got the ecm, wiring harness, transmission, transfer case, crossmember, front driveshaft, and the yoke from the rear driveshaft and am wanting to swap that in instead of the 700R4.

well I don't know how much I may have to lengthen or shorten the driveshafts and I want to figure that out before I start the swap so I'm not without my suburban for days.

You don't have to drop the pan to change the TV cable although it may make it a tad easier.

You could have a cooler line leaking and dribbling down the side of the case and then puddling in that area or your TV cable is leaking which would require a new cable to fix That probably or the rubber sleeve for the dip stick is leaking which is what I would bet on.

All 3 of those are in the same close proximity so it could be any of them.

The cooler lines use an adapter fitting so the adapter should be snug to the transmission and the cooler line snug to the adapter.

The TV cable uses like a flat rubber washer to seal to the case.

But the fill tube is right beside the TV cable and it often leaks over time especially if the tube is not secured well to the back of the engine block/bell housing

I would be all over that too!
