I have an 85 c10 pickup I bought it from the owner who had bought it new in 85 the truck caught on fire under the hood so I'm installing a new wiring harness. I need to see some pictures on where to mount the new switch. I have also did the hydroboost conversion on the truck which change the the brake pedal position. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The switch (in the engine compartment) for the illuminating the brake warning light is internal to the proportioning/combination valve:

There will be a single male spade connector sticking up out of the plastic cap in the middle of the BPC valve. A single tan/white wire plugs onto that tab:

Whether the power brakes are vacuum assist or hydroboost will not change the location of the brake warning switch or how it functions.

I think he may be referring to the brake light switch, not the warning light.

Are you just not sure where the original mounting position is? Or are you trying to figure out where it would mount on a hydro boost setup?

Yeah, I didn't know for sure which of the 3 switches associated with the brakes (low pressure, e-brake or brake lights) he was asking about either. I guessed and went with the switch in the BPC - only because he mentioned the fire in the engine compartment.

I guess we'll have to cover them all.

1. The switch that activates the brake lights:

2. The switch that illuminates the dash BRAKE light when the e-brake is on:

The image above shows the brake light switch mounting location as used with hydroboost - it's the location same as with vacuum assist or manual brakes.
