Well, I guess you can say by going to manual hubs you're giving up convenience to gain reliability and versatility. By versatility, I mean you have the option to lock one or both hubs as conditions warrant. I have a locker in the front but don't always need both front wheels driving so I leave one unlocked for easier steering.

Left an important part out, I have manual hubs currently, from the factory.

Is it worth "upgrading"?

If your hubs work fine, just save your money and keep running them.

I'm with Bucket. I do suggest taking them apart and servicing them. I just did that to mine today and found cracks in the one housing and a broken turn knob on other side. Hubs are often overlooked when it comes to scheduled maintenance.

unless you gave her more power, bigger wheels, lockers or decided to have four chubbies ride around in the box.. Save your cash. Buy some good grease and pull the factory hubs apart and clean em up. change the front diff oil and lube the drive line. Then have a milk shake (or beer) after.. or during..
