So I have too many pickups and need to downsize the fleet a little. I recently bought a 1 ton dodge with a 5.9 and am just not liking it so I think it's going down the road. That leaves me an 85 half ton Silverado with a 6.2L Diesel that has 100,000 miles and a near perfect body. No real issues with this pickup other than the gutless motor and it only being a half ton. Next contender is an 81 K30 with an equally gutless 350. This pickup has some dings and dents and a little rust, a motor that needs to be rebuilt and it needs new leaf spring packs. Oh and it is a flat bed with racks. I believe it is a 14 bolt/Danna 60 running rears with a four speed tranny.
So I'm trying to decide if it is worth fixing the stuff on the K30 and keeping it or swapping the running rears under the Silverado and putting a Banks turbo kit on it? I think the easiest option would be to just fix the stuff on the K30 but is it really worth it on a beat up pickup? But the research I have done on swapping the rearend and front end, seems it is going to be a little bit of work. Probably would want to do the running gears on the Silverado first then put on the turbo. Just looking for some opinions, thanks.
