So here's the general rundown on my situation. I bought a cluster for my '87 GMC because the gauges were messed up. I thought I'd test the gauges whenever I took the bezel and lens off, and all the gauges moved when the key turned on and I had moved them. The coolant temp pegged left, the oil pressure pegged right, the fuel fair moves, but starts way to the right of full, and the hands are broken off the clock. What should I do from here? Should I work with the old cluster or test the other one I bought and then mix and match to make a working cluster?

Pull your dash apart so you can access your gauges. Im guessing your familiar with the gauges as they just pull out from the dash.. Replace the ones you need to go from there. That's what I would do.
