Nuh uh....if you have a battery you have a crude DC welder.
Don't tell people that! *Disclaimer: not my fault if you don't disconnect it from the truck first.* There, phew. I wonder how much damage it would cause if you didn't.

Edit: Better yet

Instructions:
Connect leads to positive and negative terminals (it doesn't matter which one goes where).
Start truck
Block throttle open to 3k rpm and leave it there
Connect ground strap to work piece
Insert stick into stinger
Run Bead
(The truck might bog a little this is normal. If you hear popping sounds from what you are welding, you are welding to fast, slow the puddle travel speed).
If you hear an explosion, you have finished your weld.

For one don’t tell me what to do. And 2 anytime you weld on anything you disconnect the battery. And 3 if some one is gonna do that they are a seasoned individual, not a novice that doesn’t have a clue.

I’m just being me. I’m certified 1” overhead. And have been for 16 + years I build overhead cranes.

uphill, downhill, side to side. No crack too tight no gap too wide! If i can step across it, i can weld it up. From a broken heart to the crack of dawn ... i have a rod for every job!

I’m jealous. I bought a Hobart mig years ago but I hav never learned how to use it. I doubt it’s even set up properly. I need a teacher/mentor but I’m getting pretty old to just be starting to learn.

It's a skill like any other. You'll need to practice. Doesn't matter how old you are just how interested you are in learning.

Community colleges used to have welding classes.

I'm learning to TIG right now.

Our tool room has a big old Miller I've been practicing on. I've only ever MIG welded, but I'm finding it pretty easy. Of course our tool makers all have lots of experience to help me, but I've spent about three hours on it this week and I can make functional welds.

The main problem I'm having is regulating the heat with the foot pedal. I'm just not used to it and forget it's there.

We dont even use a foot pedal on our tigs at work. Just has a high Frequency start and your off! Lol
