Dash light problems

My light switch doesn't turn on my dash lights, when i switch it to high beam the come on!!!!!!! and they shut off on low beam!!!! The dash lights are really dime and i put brand new ones in!!!! plz help!!!!

Check the grounds in the dash. Sounds like it's backfeeding from the high beam indicator circuit to a source of low voltage elsewhere. This would give enough volts to power the dash lights dimly due to low volts difference.
