Ok, so I need some help. The cigarette lighter compartment in my truck is constantly open 3/4 inch. I cannot open it without it completely falling and dumping out spare change all over the floor. I would love for it to sit flush with the rest of the dash and be able to use it.

Has anybody had this problem before or may know a remedy? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like it's just plain broke.

You can replace the entire assembly, but it is a bit frustrating to do so if you have AC. But if you remove the mounting screws, tun it one way, then another way, jiggle it just right, and stick your tongue out and to the left... it will fit out of the dash opening.

There are metal tabs that stick out and hold the tray in position, one could be bent or missing.

Also there are little springs that go on EATHER side. I had to replace mine as well

I just fiddled with this today
There's two tabs on the inside of the assembly that may have just been bent up too far
And at to top there's two more tabs that have little rubber pieces on them
I pushed mine up and mine closes very well
And as for where it stops when it opens just adjust those tabs
