700r4 4x4 no second gear

Thinking of options to try before pulling transmission and getting it rebuilt. It used to slip from 2-3. Now there is no second gear. Will shift straight from 1st to 3rd. When kicking down from 3rd it revs with 2nd gear not there. I’m thinking the servo band broke. I did do a fluid change and filter awhile ago and it was a little dark but pan looked normal. Drives with no slipping in any other gear just no 2nd

If the band broke, you won’t have 4th either.

Take a long pry bar, wedge it between the floor and the servo cover. If you can get it to go in more than a1/8, maybe 3/16 inch, either the band is cooked or the band itself is broken.

Either way, it’s gotta come out to be replaced.
